We don't believe in "man with a van" standards. Whether we are pruning a domestic apple tree or managing the grounds of a major industrial estate, KC Landscapes works to recognised industry qualifications, carries comprehensive insurance, and documents every job with proper risk assessments. Certificates, insurance schedules and RAMS are available on request for commercial tenders and pre-qualification questionnaires.

Tree surgery qualifications

City & Guilds NPTC certified

Our tree surgery team holds recognised City & Guilds NPTC certificates of competence for key tree surgery, chainsaw and powered-access operations, working to BS3998 standards.

CS30 · Chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-Cutting.

CS31 · Felling small trees Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Felling Small Trees up to 380mm.

CS38 · Tree climbing and aerial rescue Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Climbing Trees and Aerial Rescue.

CS39 · Aerial chainsaw work Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Using a Chainsaw from a Rope and Harness.

IPAF · Powered access (MEWPs) PAL Card certified for categories 1b, 3a and 3b: static booms, scissor lifts and mobile boom lifts (cherry pickers), for safe work at height.

Horticulture, landscaping & safety

Trained from the ground up

Our tree work sits on a foundation of formal horticultural training, plus current first aid built for working in trees and forestry.

Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture · Merit City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture, awarded with Merit, covering plant and soil science, establishing and maintaining plants, landscape construction and amenity turf.

Level 1 Certificate in Practical Horticulture Skills City & Guilds practical certificate covering ground preparation, planting, cultivation, pruning and paving, the hands-on basics of quality landscaping.

Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry FAIB-approved emergency first aid with forestry modules, including catastrophic bleeding, crush and suspension trauma, so the team is prepared for the realities of tree work.

Insured, assessed and accountable

Public liability insurance

Comprehensive public and products liability cover of £5 million, arranged through Arborisk (arboricultural insurance specialists) and tailored for high-access tree work and commercial site operations.

Employers' liability insurance

Full employers' liability insurance to £10 million, covering our team on every site, as required for commercial and public-sector work.

Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS)

Site-specific RAMS produced before any work begins, keeping commercial sites safe for employees and the public and satisfying compliance records.

BS3998 tree work standard

All felling, pruning and climbing is carried out to BS3998, the British Standard for tree work, by qualified, competent operators.

Registered waste carrier

Environment Agency registered waste carrier (CBDL575057). 100% of the green waste we produce is recycled into mulch or biomass wherever possible.

Documentation for tenders

Insurance schedules, certificates of competence and RAMS available on request for pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and commercial tenders.
