Professional turfing across Cheshire
A new lawn, laid properly
A great lawn is not just turf rolled onto whatever is underneath, it is the preparation that goes in first. KC Landscapes clears the old ground, levels and firms it, improves the soil where needed and then lays fresh, quality turf for a dense, even, hard-wearing finish. Whether your existing lawn is worn out, waterlogged and patchy, or you are starting from bare ground after building work, we deliver a lawn that looks the part and lasts, backed by our own plant and machinery so we can prep and turf efficiently.

A Runcorn garden transformation
This Runcorn back garden was tired, uneven and overgrown. We cleared and rotavated the ground, levelled and prepared it, renewed the fencing and sleeper edging, then laid fresh turf for a striped, hard-wearing new lawn. Here is the before and after.

What's included
From tired ground to a lawn you'll love
Clearance and removal
We strip out the old, worn or overgrown lawn, dig out weeds and roots, and remove all the waste, so we start from a clean, workable base.
Ground preparation and levelling
The part that makes a lawn last: rotavating, grading and levelling the ground, adding quality topsoil where needed and firming it so the finished lawn is even and free-draining.
Quality turf supply and laying
We supply and lay fresh, hard-wearing turf with tight, staggered joints for a seamless finish that roots quickly and stands up to family use.
Edging, sleepers and borders
Crisp edges, sleeper retaining and defined borders to frame the lawn and hold everything neatly in place, as with the new sleeper edging on the Runcorn job above.
Problem and waterlogged lawns
Lawn that never drains or always ends up muddy? We tackle the cause with levelling and drainage improvements before re-turfing, not just a fresh layer on top.
Aftercare advice
We leave you with simple, clear guidance on watering, first cuts and feeding, so your new lawn establishes strongly and stays looking its best.

Common questions
Turfing FAQs
How soon can I walk on a new turf lawn?
Keep off it for around two to three weeks while the roots knit into the soil. Light foot traffic is usually fine after that; heavy or regular use is best left a little longer, especially in the first season.
When is the best time of year to lay turf?
Turf can be laid almost all year round in Cheshire, but spring and autumn are ideal because the ground is warm and moisture is reliable. Summer turfing is fine too, provided the new lawn is watered well while it establishes.
Do you prepare the ground or just lay the turf?
We do the full job: clearing the old lawn or overgrowth, removing debris, rotavating and levelling, adding quality topsoil where needed, and firming the ground before laying fresh turf.
How do I look after my new lawn?
Water it thoroughly every day for the first couple of weeks (more in warm weather), keep off it while it roots, and give it its first, high cut after about three weeks. We leave you with aftercare advice for your specific lawn.
